What happens next?

From your first question to a working charger.

You don't need to know the technical answers before you contact us. UK EV Charging is an independent introduction service; a suitable electrician is responsible for the survey, quotation, installation and certification.

01 / ENQUIRE

Tell us the basics

Where you park, your postcode and what you hope to charge. You can ask for a remote photo or video survey.

02 / INTRODUCE

Discuss your options

We review the enquiry and, where a suitable partner is available, arrange an introduction. There's no obligation to proceed.

03 / INSTALLER

Survey, quote, install

The installer checks the electrical supply, explains any permissions, provides a written quote and, if appointed, arranges the work and aftercare.

What counts as a standard installation?

There is no single universal package that suits every property. A relatively straightforward job may involve mounting a compatible charger near the parking space and connecting it to a suitable supply. Your installer must define exactly what their quotation includes, including any cable length, testing, VAT, charger model and warranty.

Possible additional work: long or difficult cable routes, trenching, reinstating paving, work on a consumer unit, earthing changes, supply upgrades, shared parking permissions or extra civil works. Ask for those to be itemised before accepting a quote. UK EV Charging does not set the installation price or provide the installer's workmanship warranty.

Who handles the electricity network paperwork?

The Distribution Network Operator (DNO) manages the local electricity network. The electrical installer assesses whether the proposed charger can be connected first and notified afterwards, or whether permission is needed before installation. The correct route depends on the supply and project. Ask the appointed installer to confirm who handles the required DNO notification or application and when.

Are new home chargers required to be smart?

Chargepoints sold for private domestic or workplace use in Great Britain generally fall within the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, subject to exemptions. The rules cover functionality and security of chargers offered for sale. Ask the installer which compliant model they propose and how it works with your vehicle and tariff. UK EV Charging does not sell or certify the hardware.

After installation

The appointed installer should explain commissioning, any electrical documentation, app set-up, product warranty and whom to contact for a fault. Get these details in writing with your quotation and contract.
